Off the Hair Topic: Three Podcasts African American Women Should Be Listening To

Lose the radio. There’s a new station in town. Actually there are 1000s. They’re called podcasts. Don’t have a clue? Check out your phone applications, Spotify, or iTunes. They’re there.

I’ve been missing out so much good advice, entertainment, and uplifting podcasts, I don’t know how my ears managed to listen to the regular ole radio every morning. These are the three podcasts African American women should be listening to; they’re all  hosted by black women with strong, opinonated voices with a mission to inspire.

1. Inner Hoe Uprising

Inner Hoe

Don’t let the name fool you. The Inner Hoe Uprising is a podcast hosted by Samantha Riddell and “weekly co-hoes”. Inner Upper Uprising talks about sex, love, relationships, and dating as 20somethings living in this wonderful society. Whether you want to hear about today’s issues, dating advice, self-love tips, and much more, Inner Hoe Uprising gives you a variety.

2. Myelik Teele’s Podcast

teele

If you a college graduate, post-graduate, upcoming entrepreneur or an entry-level professional, I highly recommend listening to Myleik Teele’s podcast. She has taught me so much in a matter of hours. Myleik Teele is the founder of Curlbox (curlbox.com) and she shares her career journey and insights so others won’t need to learn the hard way as she did. She also brings her mentors and connections to the podcast for new perspective.

3. Think & Grow Chick

think and grow

I think I will step down from the #pettyqueen throne after listening to this podcast. Think & Grow Chick is hosted by Courtney Sanders, a entrepreneur and motivational speaker for women empowerment. Every week, she provides self-help, entrepreneurship, and financial literacy advice. Self-doubt? Afraid of failing? Need motivation and guidance? Ms. Sanders got you.
